Sharon Spencer at Great British Yarns tells us about the latest yarns to join their selection of 100% British Breed wools for this season.
We were very excited when our new stock arrived recently. We have been looking for an excellent quality, reasonably prices Gansey 5 ply yarn for a very long time and we finally found it!
Our new Gansey yarn comes in 100g balls and costs just £6.50. It is made from 100% pure British wool and is processed here in the UK. We have a small range of traditional colours at the moment but will be expanding this shortly.
The one pictured at the top of this post is Fleet Shade 509, and the one shown to the left is Burgundy Shade 515. They’re both ideal for knitting Gansey jumpers! There are also patterns for traditional Gansey sweaters available.
From the same company we also have a fabulous Bluefaced Leicester wool. Again, 100% British this is a fabulous wool to knit with. It has a slight sheen and is very, very soft.
We have a small range of colours in both aran and double knit weights and will be adding to these in the next few months.
The yarns knit to standard tensions and would be perfect for winter garments. At £4.50 per 50g ball this is not to be missed!
