One of our favourite knitting campaigns, innocent’s Big Knit, is back to raise funds of Age UK, and they’re asking for your help!
In the past nine years, more than 2.5m million innocent smoothie bottles have tucked little woolly hats over their caps to raise money for The Big Knit and help keep older people warm in winter through the charity Age UK.
Last years reasms of celebrities got involved, creating mini hats for The Big Knit. Above you can see the once produced by Sienna Miller, Savannah Miller, Betty Jackson, Heston Blumenthal and Sophie Ellis Bextor.
Other celebs who’ve got involved (but don’t have their hats pictured here) include Tara P-T, Eliza Doolittle, Zandra Rhodes and Orla Kiely. Smoothie hats designed by pop stars, models, designers and even a molecular gastronomic chef (no, we’re not sure either) will be popped up on bottles in Sainbury’s last November, so why not join them by knitting a few hats too!
innocent have very kindly given us one of their knitting patterns to publish on The Knitter website, so make sure you come back next week to see it!
There are also patterns available at at innocent's Big Knit website, and once complete you can send your creations to innocent drinks, Fruit Towers, Canal Building, 342 Ladbroke Grove, London W10 5BU. The deadline for you to get your hats sent by is Monday 1 October, so get knitting now. Don't forget, this is a great way of stashbusting too.
For every be-hatted bottle sold, innocent will donate 25p to Age UK, so the more hats you can make, the more people you’ll be benefiting!
