Knit for Refuge campaign – keep it up!

We’re always so impressed by the generosity of knitters, so we’re thrilled to tell you that, thanks to you, we have succeeded in raising £1,000 for our Refuge 'Bears and Squares' campaign already!

We wanted to take this chance to say 'thank you' to anyone who has donated to Refuge via our Justgiving page, or has taken the time to knitt a teddy bear or a blanket to be given to a child staying at the charity’s ‘safe houses’. We know it will make a huge difference!

Our goal is to raise a massive £10,000, so please keep up the good work! Any amount, however small, helps, and each knitted item will go to someone who will really appreciate it.

Knit for Refuge logoDue to the nature of the service provided by Refuge in helping women and children escape domestic violence, children often arrive at these refuges with nothing but the clothes they are wearing, which is why these handknitted teds and blankets mean so much.

Please send your completed blankets and teddy bears to Fundraising/TheKnitter, Refuge, 4th Floor, International House, 1 St Katharine’s Way, London E1W 1UN.

Please note: Donations of single squares cannot be accepted.

If you need advice about any aspect of domestic violence, please visit Refuge. The website 1in4women run in partnership with Avon, also has a wealth of accessible information for concerned friends and family members.
