This February marks the return of Unravel to Farnham Maltings near Guildford, offering the chance to enjoy an array of knitting, crocheting and yarn-related workshops, stalls and demonstrations.
We’re particularly excited that designer extraordinare Susan Crawford (pictured left) will be there, along with John Arbon Textiles, who, you may recall from our feature in The Knitter 37, collaborated so beautifully with the creation of Excelana yarn and ‘A Stitch in Time 2’. The pair’s work fits in neatly with the festival’s focus on British wool, with other themed highlights including a Wool Sack stuffing station in preparation of the 2012 Olympics, and a talk from Sue Blacker of the Natural Fibre Company, as well as one from Lesley Prior, Artisan Project Manager for the Campaign for Wool.
To keep youngsters occupied there will be free children's workshops plus an Under 15s category in the Best In Show competition, while, in a festival first, a group of children from a local school will be passing on the skills they’ve learned in their school knitting club.
The festival organisers have commissioned have textile artists to create yarn-related installations at the Farnham Maltings, ensuring there will be plenty to inspire, enthuse and excite you throughout the weekend!
Entrance fees are £6.50 in advance and £9, with tickets covering both days of the festival. Under 15’s get in for FREE.
