The Knitter issue 54 - in shops until the 19th February

Packed with Winter warmers, The Knitter 54 has designs from new names and established masters. "One of the best parts of my job is choosing the patterns for each issue," says Rosee, and we're sure you'll love this month's selection.

Layla Chelache's amazing textural wrap is the perfect way to experiment with modular techniques - follow our mini Masterclass if you've never tried this before. You'll also love wrapping up warm in Brandon Mably's Navajo tunic, while Kyoko Nakayoshi's shawl-collared cardi is worked in 100% alpaca - a Winter wonder.

For the younger members of your family we have a candy-coloured girl's cable cardi from Sirdar, and an adorable cable sweater and beanie for babies. You can also explore the archives of the V&A in the company of respected knitting historian and designer Sandy Black.

If your New Year's resolution was to develop your knitting skills, or to share your knowledge with others, there's no better place to do so than as part of a knitting group. Check out our feature on Stitch London - arguably the largest knitting group in the UK and discover the secrets of its success.
